This technical report attempts to revise the list of priority species of bamboo. Earlier efforts have been primarily focused on Asian species, while neglecting the prospects of American and African species. Authors undertook a fresh examination of bamboo species biodiversity from the perspective of the wider range of bamboo products and applications available today. One area of particular emphasis in the report is the potential for large-scale cultivation of bamboo across different climatic and soil conditions to meet the requirements for all major uses.
