Most fishing gear is made of plastic. When lost or discarded, these items can pollute and/or endanger navigation of waterways. Transitioning to using bamboo and rattan to build ocean-safe fishing vessels, traps and other crafts offers an eco-friendly and sustainable solution to plastic pollution while strengthening the livelihoods of fishers and fish farmers.
